What to do if Windows blocks the installer.

There are two possible paths. The Unblock checkbox only appears when Windows has marked the file as downloaded from the Internet.

Visual guide: right-click the installer, open Properties, check Unblock and, if SmartScreen appears, choose More info and Run anyway
The illustration uses the labels to look for; appearance may vary slightly by Windows version.
  1. Open Properties. In Downloads, right-click the official installer and choose Properties.
  2. Unblock only this file. On General, if Security → Unblock appears, check it and select Apply → OK.
  3. Continue in SmartScreen. If “Windows protected your PC” appears, select More info, confirm the file name and choose Run anyway.
Do not turn off Microsoft Defender or SmartScreen. Unblock only the installer downloaded from this page after its fingerprint matches.
